The Marantec Group is a collaborative, courageous, and visionary initiator. Our ambition is to shape the future by using our art of engineering – engineering of things. We consistently implement our guiding motto A new way to get there #together in the following four areas:

Engineering

New understanding of technology

We don't use engineering to "improve" products for the sake of technology and to keep adding new features; instead, we focus on the needs of our customers. For them, we develop easy-to-use, sustainable solutions. We are committed to the open innovation approach and open up beyond our corporate scope to increase our innovation capabilities.

Due to severe supply bottlenecks in the industry, a “lite” version of a very important control unit for industrial doors was developed in a very short time. Language options and functions were reduced – the revised product was extremely well received by our customers. This quick and innovative solution enabled us to maintain the product's deliverability despite the adverse supply situation of components.

Our wall switches are true all-rounders. But do they really have to do everything? Functions such as motion detectors, status feedback and vacation/absence mode are practical for many customers – but usually at the expense of ease of use.

With the Digital 540 wall switch, our product management and development department have created a product that concentrates on a few key functions and is very easy to operate.

Two main functions have remained: The wall push button can be used to control the practical and popular ventilation scenario, and it has a button for switching the light on and off. To be honest, it was not so easy to reduce the range of functions instead of adding new ones as usual. This is exactly what we understand to be customer- and user-centric engineering.

As part of our sustainability strategy, we are using digital installation instructions to minimize our carbon footprint and conserve paper resources. Instead of printed instructions, these are now made available online. A single sheet with safety instructions replaces the previous manuals. Our customers can still request printed manuals. The Marantec Group expects to save about eight million printed pages per year, which is equivalent to over 50 tons of CO2 and saves about 70 mature trees per year. In addition, printing costs will be reduced and effort minimized.

We have optimized our corporate processes by using innovative methods. One of the key concepts is the one-piece-flow principle, which makes production more efficient and saves resources. However, the transformation goes far beyond production. Through increased communication and presence in all areas of the company, the needs of the team are better understood and those responsible can respond quickly to changes. In addition, the focus is on customer orientation. Processes are gradually being standardized and aligned with customer needs. The goal here is also the transformation from a traditional SME to a digital industrial company, with the focus on continuous improvement and adaptation of processes. Business Models

New understanding to create values

In our opinion, product heroes have had their day; it's all about holistic business models. We think in ecosystems and are guided by the principles of the platform economy and the circular economy. We have a clear ambition to design the best business models in the field of drive systems in harmony with nature. In doing so, we always think beyond our existing core markets.

We are committed to more than just sustainability and climate neutrality. Our company strives to make its products and services ecologically sustainable and to work with nature. This requires a reorientation of creativity and competencies in all areas of the company. To do this, we use the InnovationPositive method. According to this method, ecological sustainability should be economically beneficial and is considered to be both a responsibility and an opportunity.

Cooperations

New understanding of competition

Cooperations create value. We see the ability to initiate successful cooperations as a decisive competitive advantage. For us, the focus is on openness, honesty, and transparency. We strive for cooperations from which all partners benefit. Instead of being competitive, we push the boundaries of competition. Only in this way will we continue to be successful in the global market.

How do medium-sized companies manage to keep up with the seemingly endless resources of large corporations? By pulling together and regularly exchanging information about current challenges and approaches to solutions. For some years now, we at Marantec have been active in various networks in which employees from different companies meet as equals – for example in the “Maschinenraum“, “owl maschinenbau” or “New Mittelstand”. In these networks we can learn from other companies and pass on our own experience – a real win-win situation for all sides!

Ellard Ltd. is one of the UK's leading suppliers of operators and controls for the automation of industrial doors, roller shutters, garage doors, awnings, and external gates. The company has been in business for nearly 70 years. In 2022, we were able to win Ellard as a customer and cooperation partner. How did we score? What brought us together? After years of sourcing in the Far East, Ellard made a conscious decision to go with a European supplier. But that's not all: Ellard fully relies on the brand strength of Marantec and sells its industrial door operators not under its own brand, as before, but under our brand name. Together, we have thus reshuffled the cards on the British market and thus significantly expanded the leading position of the Marantec Group on this market.

Leadership

New understanding of collaboration

The best results come from the wisdom of the many. This requires working at the same level. We rethink organizations, focusing on talents and roles instead of traditional hierarchies. Core principles for implementing this way of working are purpose, modern governance structures, and digitalization. Our focus is on active people who act on their own responsibility.

Transformation can only succeed if we all work hand in hand. This requires a collaborative corporate culture in which all colleagues are open to sharing knowledge and innovating in order to find new ways of doing things together. Or in short: an open mindset. The OMIND platform team supports us in developing and consolidating precisely this mindset. In workshops with colleagues from different departments and through the use of an online platform, the participants reflect on their knowledge exchange in everyday life with the goal of opening up (further) and becoming drivers of change themselves. A valuable enrichment for each individual. And for us as a company, an important building block on our journey to becoming an Open Champion.

Top grades and a gap-free CV? These are not important hiring criteria for us at the Marantec Group. Instead, we place great value on getting to know applicants and their stories personally. Particularly in times of a shortage of skilled workers, we don't want to use a rigid, outdated catalog of criteria to find new colleagues – instead, we are basically open to anyone who is interested in working for our group of companies.
